There’s always going to be more games to play at the QCC. Let’s see what you might want to play on Sunday Morning
Guest Jennifer Adcock is bringing her Costume Fairy Adventures game for those young and young of heart. Here’s the description of the game:
There’s nothing that fairies love more than mischief. Well, almost nothing. When several villagers ask for help from the notoriously mercurial fae folk, right in the middle of their annual pie festival, things are bound to get a little bit… messy. After all, it wouldn’t be any fun if there weren’t a few surprises. Eat the most pie, cause the most chaos, and of course, wear the coolest costumes to gain their powers.
If you’re interested in this game you can get your ticket here: The Big Pie Caper
Mike is running some Savage Worlds on Sunday morning and Hotel 96 seems to have a very Hotel California vibe to it. Check out the description:
Hotel 96 is waiting for you. It promises fine music, great food, and a release of the soul … but it has a burning desire to make you stay for good! Burn off a little steam … but you do need to get back to Pinebox and ETU (East Texas University), as you have classes on Monday.
Note: Should take about 4 hours, but allows for a lunch break.
If you’re interested in this game you can get your ticket here: Hotel 96 (ETU)
Our only game on the schedule starting at 11 AM is Zaya’s Promise. It’s run by special guest Stacy Dellorfano and uses the Swords & Wizardry system. Here’s the description of the event:
Long ago, a whole town and the valley it inhabited disappeared. Rumors persist that the town was swallowed up by a sea of brambles & the valley made uninhabitable. Dare you seek what lies inside?
Run by the creator! Zaya’s Promise was published by Frog God Games for the Swords & Wizardry 3rd printing. The adventure features a constantly shifting dungeon that plays differently every time in a fun house wonderland dungeon that’s just as deadly as it is fascinating.
If you’re interested in this game you can get your ticket here: Zaya\’s Promise
Angela Bullied is bringing out some Five Tribes, an excellent worker displacement board game from Days of Wonder. Here’s the description:
Five Tribes builds on a long tradition of German games with wooden Meeples in a unique twist on the Worker Placement game genre. While the rules are quite easy to learn and understand, implementing a winning strategy will take a calculated approach. In this worker displacement game, you score by carefully maneuvering the Five Tribes of Meeples over the tiles that make up the ancient city-state of the Sultanate of Naqala. You need to look ahead to determine what moves will not only position you to score well, but put your opponents at a disadvantage. It’s when, how and where you dis-place the Five Tribes of Assassins, Elders, Builders, Merchants & Viziers that will determine your victory or failure!
If you’re interested in this game you can get your ticket here: Five Tribes with Expansion
There’s Sunday Morning. If you’re one of the brave willing to get up that early for a game we wanted to make sure you knew what some of the offerings were. For more games check out the full schedule.
Hey folks. Another posts about the games that will be running at the QCC that you might want to play.
Special Guest Stacy Dellorfano is running Big Trouble in Little Italy, a game based on Mage: The Ascension 2nd edition with some modifications by her.
There’s something strange going on in San Diego’s Little Italy. While the mundane world sees a neighborhood with its Italian roots long buried in modern gentrification, just beneath the surface lies the final refuge of some of Italy’s long lost gods and goddesses. Word has it a powerful mage wants to trap and steal the power of one of those deities to attain true immortality through a dangerous ritual. Can you and your friends stop them before it’s too late?

Check back on Monday for more highlighted games or give the schedule a look yourself. Also, tell your friends and fellow gamers they can get their badge on Tabletop Events. Just think, it’s only 5 weeks away from the Queen City Conquest.

Special guest Kate Bullock is running Crossroads Carnival, a powered by the apocalypse game she is in the process of designing. Here’s the description:
In 1930’s Dustbowl America, a carnival is ground zero for the final war between good and evil. Play as supernatural sideshows who are trying to stop the encroaching darkness while clinging to what humanity they have left. Crossroads Carnival is a powered by the apocalypse game of desperate souls beneath the midway lights striving to save the world that hates them. This is a playtest with the designer of the game.

For you board game fans we have Cthulhu Wars. Here’s the description:

I’ll have three more of our many many events in a few days. Thanks for your support and we can’t wait to game with you in September.
Hello gamers. It took us a little longer than we were hoping to get our heads around Tabletop Events but things are up and running now. Let’s talk about what what is happening with the QCC.
Those folks who got this through the kickstarter have access and should register for events now. In a week or so we’ll open up event registration to everyone else. CLICK HERE.
If you should have access and don’t, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
You can buy your badge if you missed out on the Kickstarter. If you’ve already gotten your badge from the kickstarter we encourage you to tell your friends, family, enemies, monarchs, servants, pets…wait, sorry. I was just told by my ruler that we can’t have pets at the convention center so while you can tell them and they could buy badges but they can’t attend. Still, tell your people if they pass for human and send them here. CLICK HERE.
You are also able to purchase con merchandise to be picked up at registration desk during the con.
We have a lot of events already and that’s thanks to all of you. This convention doesn’t happen without your games. If you’d like to check out the event list you can click on this link. CLICK HERE.
We’re always looking for more events of all kinds. We could really use some more board game events if possible.
Well that’s the inside info on what’s going on at the QCC. You’ll be hearing more from us now that we have all the back end stuff set up. We can’t wait to see you in September and I hope you all play great games until then.
Hey folks. We have three days left in the Kickstarter, we’re over $9,000 which means there’s gonna be a convention, and we’re now working on Stretch Goals.
If we reach $10,000 we’ll have the Hyatt area by the bar and those tables in the area open for gaming until 2 am. We’ll bring a bunch of board games over for open gaming. We’re also planning on having some events for that area and that time frame.
We have our dice for this year, or at least the colors picked out. We’ll be ordering some but if we get to $12,000 then everyone with a badge from the Kickstarter gets a die for free. Otherwise they’re a dollar each and you can add them onto your pledge. We should mention we have sold out of dice every year and we can’t get more. If you want some dice I suggest getting in early and letting us know how many you want.
So there’s a thing we wanted to focus a little more on this year and that’s the gaming experience. The QCC is a gaming convention before it’s anything else and we want to provide the chance for some experiences you might not otherwise have. That’s why some of the levels and games you can participate in are on the Kickstarter. We wanted to give backers first crack at them. To that, here’s the list of the experiences we have going on currently:
Savage Kings of the World AKA Savage Retribution
This is a 3 session Savage Worlds mini campaign with Vickey Beaver of Obatron productions, one of the creators of the Retribution Setting. That means you get to play with the designer and get your 3 day badge.
Zombicide Knight – Play a bunch of Zombicide
This level gets you 12 hours and a mini campaign of Zombicide: Black Plague/Wolfsburg with Paul Burleson, including a custom scenario to save Mark Knapik featuring the Mark Knapik mini from 2015. You also get your 3 day badge and there’s a rumor that Paul might even have the new expansion for Zombicide at the Con that’s kickstarting right now. It’s just a rumor but that’d be a pretty cool bonus if he does have it.
Knight of Madness – Play a bunch of Cthulhu Wars
This is 12 hours of Cthulhu wars with board game maven Mike Beiter, he’ll have material from the base game and the expansions. So this is multiple boards, more factions, and all the Lovecraftian mini’s madness you can experience without owning the game. You also get your 3 day badge if you’re insane enough to back at this level.
Epic Royal Knight – Guaranteed Spot in the D&D Epic
We have the season 7 epic and the QCC will be one of the first places you can publicly play it at so you folks who love AL, this is where you want to be. This level also gets your 3 day badge.
You get to play a 3 session Savage Worlds Rippers mini campaign with Garrett Crowe. This level includes your 3 day badge and a spot in all three sessions of Garrett’s world spanning Rippers games.
Ryuutama with Rach Shelky
Ryuutama, the Natural Fantasy RPG, is an Ennie Award winning game. If you’re into JRPGs and journey styled storytelling this is a game you’ll want to play. Guest Rach Shelkey from the Toronto Gamers Association, Breakout Con, and It’s Like D&D, will be running the game on Sunday at 1pm, I can’t think of a better way to close out the con. You get a spot in the game and your 3 day badge with this level.
Play Love & Justice with Senda Linaugh Love & Justice is a Magical Girls RPG and guest Senda Linaugh AKA Giggles, AKA Skill Monkey, and the Panda who has all our hearts, is running it. Senda knows Magical Girls like no one else we know. So, if you love magical girls you’ll want to back this level. It gets you in Senda’s game on Saturday at 1pm and your 3 day badge.
Play Steamscapes with Eric Simon
Steamscapes is a Savage Worlds Historical Steampunk RPG and you can play with guest and designer of the game, Eric Simon, on Saturday at 7pm. He often brings legos as the mini’s for the game along with lego vehicles and lego props. So steampunk, history, and legos. How can you go wrong. You also get your three day badge.
Play Rockalypse with Eric SimonRockalypse is a Post Apocalyptic game of musical conflict for Fate. You get to play the game with guest and creator of the game, Eric Simon, on Friday at 7pm. Get your post apocalyptic rock on and your 3 day badge.
Ok folks. That’s all our special games going on right now. Once again, thank you for making this kickstarter successful and giving us another year of the Queen City Conquest. We’ll be seeing you in September.
So we’re sitting at 100 backers and just under $7,600. Thank you so much for getting us to 100 backers. Now we just need to get to $9,000 so we can actually have a convention. Moving on. If you’re planning on coming to the convention now is the best time to get in since badge prices go up after the kickstarter, you lose your chance at early registration, and the deals on all the swag you can get with the kickstarter. Now lets talk about Savage Worlds.
Vickey Beaver of Obatron Productions has this series of games on deck for those folks who want a Savage Worlds mini-campaign.
We’re talking to our guests and working on setting up some guest games you can get in on through our kickstarter. Look for those with 7 days left. We’re also looking at getting some more long con events in.
You can register your games for the Queen City Conquest that you’d like to run via Tabletop Events. We’ve had a bunch so far but we’re always looking for more. We want to know what you’re gonna run in September.
Hey folks. 10 Days to go and we’re at 98 backers and 7,500 bucks. We’ve almost reached that 100 backer mark and I’d love to see it hit before tomorrow is over. Who will be our 100th backer? It’s a mystery. Also, let’s talk about late night gaming. That’s our first stretch goal, and if we don’t get to $10,000 dollars we’re not going to be able to do it.
The Dresden Files at the QCC.
Tom Lutz, your favorite gaming minister and mine, is coming to the QCC with the Dresden Files. Here’s the games description. You are one of the many wonderful denizens of Dresden files books you know, a wizard, white court vampire, werewolf or any of the other creatures that prowl the streets. You have all ended up here at the QCC because there is a dire magical threat threatening our convention goers that will have horrible consequence for the world at large. It is up to you to save us, the city of Buffalo, and perhaps even our plane of existence.
Open Video Gaming
Karol is coming back with his partner Tim in video gaming and they’re bring a variety of video games for you to play and enjoy both new and old. In the past they’ve brought an Atari 2600, the NES, a Famicom, Apple ][ with Oregon Trail, TI99/A, the Sega Dreamcast, Playstation’s, Xbox 360’s, Wii’s, WiiU’s and more. If there’s something you’ve been itching to play there’s a chance they might be able to bring it to the show.
We have Zombicide and Cthulhu Wars levels that you can still get involved in. They’re amazing games and the facilitators have most if not all of the expansions for those games. That’s hundreds of dollars of game and you get to experience it for your cost of entry to the convention. It’s a great way to get your game on and experience something you might not be able to anywhere else.
Joe from Collectors Inn has hit us with another great offer. Joe will be giving all the backers who attend the show a coupon for 5% for every $500 over our funding goal on one item, capping out at 30%. That means if we get to $12,000 bucks everyone with a badge will get a 30% off coupon for one item either at the convention or at Collectors Inn.
Hey folks. The Kickstarter is right around $7,500 today and moving along with 11 days left. With that I wanted to point out a level you might not be aware of. If you’re a game company, podcast, blog, etcetera, and are looking for a little bit of advertising then you should check out the Ambassador level. For $25 you can get your logo and links on our website, be part of our digital slide shows during the con, and become an Ambassador of Gaming for the Queen City Conquest. Chris is also likely to mention you on one of the numerous Misdirected Mark Shows he’s a part of.
Over on Table Top Events, where you can put your events in you’d like to run…like right now, we’ve had some new submissions.
Paint & Take
Heather Heim, who has been an excellent vendor and supporter of the Queen City Conquest in the past, is having a couple of Paint & Take events. It’s a good chance to get your miniature painting on.
Tim Bryant is bringing out the DREAD TOWER and mashing it up with a little Arthurian lore. Here’s the game description:
The King suffers and the land suffers. You are Knight of Camelot, sent forth to retrieve the Holy Grail and restore Arthur and his kingdom. Evil abounds in all guises– sorcerers, dragons, and lurking horrors most perilous. Chivalry and honor guide your every deed, but the highest glory comes to those alone who dare risk all for King and country. This game features The Impossible Dream’s Dread RPG, which uses a JENGA tower for task resolution. No prior experience necessary. Characters provided.
There’s that special Savage Kings of the World level that’s part of the Kickstarter. It was a one price for five people but now it’s been broken down into individual levels. So if you want to get in on the Savage Worlds action with Obatron Productions Vickey Beaver, then now is the time to back at that level.
That’s all for now but we’ll be back tomorrow with your 10 days left update.
